HMRC SA APIs. AOK?

Great news. TaxCalc now incorporates the ability to receive data directly from HMRC using HMRC’s pre-population APIs.

Once you’ve checked the data, all you have to do is click a single button and the data is fed directly into TaxCalc Tax Return Production to generate a tax return. This should save you considerable time and effort.

Confirming our Spreadsheet, Income Tax and VAT Filing Functionality as part of our MTD Solution

When TaxCalc MTD was unveiled at Accountex, we reassured the accounting community that our MTD strategy would accommodate spreadsheet users to record transactions for compilation into an online quarterly submission for HMRC.

Following further announcements from HMRC regarding VAT compliance, we can confirm that our VAT Filer solution will also be ready for the submission of VAT returns under MTD.

Meet the team - Martin Davey

Innovation in Practice, The Digital Tax People, passion, creativity, simplicity, fun, enjoyment, respect, to name just a few.  Are they just words or do they mean something more? I’ve only been here a few months and have already seen first-hand how these descriptors make TaxCalc who and what we are.

Right Said FRED 67. Or not?

We always try to share information and insights to support your life in practice. In this case, it’s the curious case of additional disclosures required by Micro-Entities (FRS 105)

Until recently, it hasn’t been necessary for accountants to provide much in the way of notes to Micro-Entity accounts. But that’s now changed.

HMRC 2016/17 calculation errors and Exclusions - Update

EVERYONE MAKES MISTAKES – EVEN HMRC!

But don’t worry. The fix is on its way.

You may already know that HMRC has made a number of changes to the Personal Savings and Dividend Tax Reform, which became effective from 6th April this year. You’ll also probably know by now that errors were made in the calculation of tax liabilities.

It’s meant that those affected are unable to electronically submit Tax Returns (if an error registers it’s called an Exclusion). Instead they have to file a paper Return, providing at the same time a ‘reasonable excuse’ form. This has proven highly inconvenient and is a potential problem that’s common to users of all brands of tax software.

But fear no more. At TaxCalc we’ve been working closely with HMRC to remedy the situation quickly.

TaxCalc 6.0

Moving home. Classically, the stuff of nightmares. Suddenly you realise you’ve accumulated a thousand car boot sales’ worth of junk. All the furniture that’s looked perfectly respectable in this, the current gaff, will simply HAVE to go. Will the telly work in the new place? God, what about broadband? It’s going to be a wrench. Will the kids adjust? How are they going to remember the new address? Can we really afford the four-times-the-size, costs-a-small-fortune doer-upper we’re moving to?

Pre-population of Self Assessment Tax Returns Using HMRC APIs

As you may have heard in recent announcements, such as the one from our CEO Tracy Ebdon Poole Making Tax Digital for Business has been delayed. However, the ability for information to be automatically populated in a Self Assessment tax return is still pressing on.

Having first written about this in early 2016, we thought it was time to update our customers as to the progress of this.
