Tax Return Production

Forecast the year ahead

You can now forecast the 2026/27 tax year using What If? Planner, helping you plan ahead with more confidence. It gives you a clearer view of future liabilities, so you can adjust payments on account and have more informed conversations with your clients.

Dividend database update

Updated dividend data is now built into the software, so you don’t have to hunt it down elsewhere. You can obtain dividend information from companies within TaxCalc, rather than having to search for dividend vouchers received or searching through their bank accounts for amounts received. This helps you work more efficiently and with greater confidence, knowing the information you’re using is current and easy to access when you need it.

Improvements to close company dividends

HMRC now requires close company dividends to be declared separately, with additional information such as company details and shareholding. We have updated Tax Return Production to support those requirements.

Improvements have also been made to make the process smoother, including clearer guidance and changes that reduce common points of confusion.

Accounts Production

Big changes to FRS 102 rules

We’ve updated Accounts Production to reflect legislative changes to FRS 102, following the 2024 periodic review.

The changes introduce a new five-step approach to revenue and bring most leases onto the balance sheet. They apply to accounting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2026.

By implementing these changes to Accounts Production now, we’re enabling you to adopt them early – if you wish.

SORP 2026

We’ve updated our Charity Accounts module to reflect legislative changes to SORP. We’ve brought these in early to enable you to adopt the changes before they take effect if you decide to. They are applicable to periods beginning on or after 1 January 2026.

Updates to SORP 2026 introduce a three-tier income reporting framework (replacing the old small/medium/large charity definition) and also align with the FRS 102 updates mentioned above. Governance and reporting updates have also been factored in.

MTD Quarterly Filer

New client section

We’ve embedded a new Client Declaration section directly into the submission workflow. It helps you evidence client authorisation for every quarterly submission, without leaving TaxCalc. You can capture approval via eSign or print, depending on what works best for your client.

Practice Management & Engager

Integration with Virtual Cabinet

The new integration with Virtual Cabinet boosts efficiency and helps save you time. No need any more to manually download documents and upload them – reducing the chances of errors occurring and saving time.

Upgrades to Engager integration

Further enhancements to the link-up between Engager and TaxCalc include the ability to sort by Engager column on the Client List. This will help you spot clients not linked to Engager. When you first click: Engager‑linked clients appear at the top. The second click sorts the column in reverse order. And we’ve added the Engager app tile on the TaxCalc launcher homepage, giving Engager users a quick, easy way to open it.

Handling job status automatically

Submitting a return in TaxCalc now keeps Engager in step, with job statuses updated to ‘Filed’ automatically – saving time, avoiding rekeying and keeping your records accurate across both systems.

Surfacing tax data

From July (following an update to Engager), tax data will also be stored in Engager for surfacing on the client overview and client list, helping you quickly understand what clients owe and use that information in your templates and communications. You will then be able to, for example, bulk e-mail your corporation tax clients to tell them how much they owe.

MTD reporting enhancement

We’ve made changes to help you with MTD reporting on individual clients with multiple businesses. This includes a new Business column on the work management page to make matters clearer where your clients have more than one firm, thereby cutting out guesswork.

Making MTD status clearer

We’ve also brought you a drilldown option for MTD status - for clients with multiple businesses. The client list now shows a clear status for each MTD quarterly obligation, so you can quickly see what’s been filed or completed. For clients with multiple businesses, you can click through to view a full breakdown, giving you a clear, accurate picture without guesswork.
