How do I claim investments or shares in a Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme?

You can claim income tax relief on investments in a Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme in SimpleStep or HMRC Forms mode.

  1. Go to Tax reliefs and allowances > Relief on investments.
  2. Enter the amount in the box labelled Subscriptions for shares under the Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme.
  3. Go to Other information.
  4. Enter the information in the box.

HMRC Forms mode

  1. Go to Additional Information Page 2 (Other tax reliefs) – Please see table below for your specific Tax year.
  2. Enter the amount of investments on which you are claiming relief (maximum £150,000) - Percentage of investment which you can claim is 50%
  3. Go to SA100 Core Return > Page 7 > Box 19
  4. Enter details of each investment in Box 19 Any other information.

The details you need to enter for each investment are the:

  • Name of the company invested in
  • Amount on which you are claiming relief for this year
  • Date of issue of the shares
  • Name of the HMRC office authorising the issue of the certificate
  • HMRC reference as shown on the certificate.

Enter the SEIS amount for HMRC Forms  > Additional information > Page 2 > Other tax reliefs. Insert the amount of SEIS relief in box 10.
