As TaxCalc continues to expand across the UK accountancy software market, we are delighted to welcome John Goddard as our new Chief Executive Officer.
The experienced technology and commercial leader takes over from Paul Evans at an important moment for the business, as we strengthen our platform offering and grow our presence among accountancy firms nationwide.
He joins from group.one, where he was Chief Operating Officer for Digital Marketing Services, leading both strategy and commercial delivery.
“The UK accounting industry is at an inflection point."
John says: “The UK accounting industry is at an inflection point. Firms are actively moving away from legacy systems toward integrated, cloud platforms — and they're doing so at the same time that AI is beginning to reshape how compliance, reporting and advisory work gets done.
"With software used to file more than a quarter of all UK tax returns and one of the UK’s fastest-growing practice management platforms, TaxCalc and Engager are well positioned to help accounting firms benefit from the industry’s shift to modern software, and I am excited to help accelerate that vision.”
John explained what has stood out to him about TaxCalc, saying: “What has always set TaxCalc apart is not just the quality of its software but the strength of its relationships with customers — and as we grow and innovate, maintaining that exceptional standard of support remains central to everything we do.”
John has held several senior leadership roles at EDSA, including CEO, Chief Digital Officer and Chief Product Officer.
Earlier in his career, John worked as Managing Director of Ecommerce at Santander UK, and held marketing leadership positions at both M&G Investments and UBS Wealth Management. He also founded WinLocal, which became one of Germany’s largest local online marketing platforms for small and medium-sized businesses.
